Message from the president, June 2017 alumni newsletter

In this issue of our Newsletter, we focus on the theme of Social Responsibility.

What is social responsibility?  Is it a core value for Canadians?  What about its corporate citizens?  Do we have a social responsibility to provide healthcare to all Canadians, no matter the cost?  In this edition of our CFLSE Newsletter, our alumni weigh in.  Among others, we are absolutely delighted to feature an exclusive interview with one of our most distinguished alumni, Greg Marchildon, Ontario Research Chair in Health Policy and System Design at the University of Toronto, who reflects on his years at the LSE and also provides insightful thoughts on some of these fundamental questions.

On a separate front, we also hope that you are enjoying many of the extraordinary events that are being organized by our Chapters throughout the country.  Whether it be events with the UK High Commissioner or a British Consul General, mentorship roundtables, lectures with distinguished speakers (the Hon. Chris Bentley, LSE Professor Tim Oliver, Faisal Siddiqi, to name a few), wine tastings, guided tours (e.g., the Canadian Centre for Architecture), trivia nights, or our Destination LSE Events, our Chapter leaders are working incredibly hard to bring you exciting opportunities to learn, network and grow.

We look forward to having you involved,

Usman M. Sheikh

National President, CFLSE
